Minneapolis is a gem of the Upper Midwest, with a gorgeous skyline, bustling industries, a great food scene, and, oh yeah, great places for date nights! No matter what your personal interests or hobbies are, there’s a great place for you and that special somebody to patronize. So, with so many places to hang out and things to do, let’s sort out the best of the best. Here are the best, most exciting date night ideas in Minneapolis.

Hang Out at Graze Provisions + Libations

If you’re looking for a great date night restaurant in Minneapolis, try something that isn’t quite a restaurant at all – it’s even better! Graze Provisions + Libations in the North Loop is an exciting food collective featuring two bars and a handful of locally-driven, chef-inspired food concepts. Each vendor is independently owned and operated, making for truly unique experiences and a broad spectrum of cuisines, beverages, and prices.

Best of all? There’s a rooftop patio for you and your date to enjoy sunny days and starry nights. Take advantage of Graze’s extraordinary gathering spaces with no obligation to spend money, so you can enjoy hanging out with your date any way you choose.

Catch a Show at the Historic Guthrie Theater

While going to the movies makes for a classic date night, going to Minneapolis’ Guthrie Theater makes for an unforgettable one. With both regional and national talent directing, creating, and performing a mix of classic and contemporary plays, the Guthrie inspires the kind of imagination that only captivating live performances can spark.

Hosting visitors from all across the country, this theater is just too good to pass up – especially if you’re a local. With an on-site restaurant and stunning views of the Mississippi, you can make a whole evening of it. No wonder why this qualifies as one of the best date nights in Minneapolis.

Take a Walk Across the Stone Arch Bridge

Once an industrial railroad bridge facilitating the heavy flow of traffic into the city, the historic Stone Arch Bridge is now a popular spot for locals and tourists to stretch their legs. With breathtaking views of downtown Minneapolis and the St Anthony Falls, the sightseeing alone is worth the hike.

Walk hand in hand with your date as you take in the scenery, and for a longer date, explore the many parks and trails in the area. For a little extra magic, go at sunset to ensure the lighting is just right for romance.

Explore the Minneapolis Institute of Art

The Minneapolis Institute of Art has something for everyone. Whether you’re an art enthusiast, or just looking for something fun to do, Mia provides plenty of entertainment (and education) with its 90,000 works, representing over 5,000 years of human history.

If that’s not impressive enough, just know that Mia is one of the largest museums in the entire United States. You can spend hours connecting with your date over the countless exhibits and works of art, sharing your thoughts, feelings, and experiences.

This wonderful art museum is not only one of the best date night destinations in Minneapolis, it’s also completely free – although you should consider leaving a small donation.

Get a New Perspective on the Foshay Tower

When the Foshay Tower was completed in 1929, just months before the stock market crash, it was the tallest, most prominent building in Minneapolis. Although it's since been eclipsed by modern skyscrapers, its remarkable art deco style has landed it on the National Register of Historic Places.

Not only can you visit the Foshay Tower, but you can also head up to its observation deck (for free!) to gain a new perspective on the city. See Minneapolis as you never have before, and afterwards, head down to the 27th floor to have a drink at the prohibition-style speakeasy bar. Now that’s a memorable date night!

Check out the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden

If you’re from the Twin Cities, chances are you already know all about the Spoonbridge and Cherry. However, there’s a lot more to the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden than just that. It’s one of the largest urban sculpture gardens in the country, with a giant 19 acre campus. That means you and your date can spend as much, or as little, time there as you’d like.

The art installations are changed out regularly, so you won’t have to worry about seeing the same things over and over again if you’re familiar with the sculpture garden. But, of course, that iconic Spoonbridge and Cherry will always be there.
